Weather Update: J&K to Witness Rain, Snow, and Gusty Winds from April 18-20
SRINAGAR, April 16:
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a detailed weather forecast and advisory for Jammu & Kashmir for the period from April 16 to April 27, 2025.
Forecast Overview:
- April 16: The region will remain generally cloudy by the afternoon with brief spells of light rain accompanied by thunder and gusty winds, particularly affecting North and Central Kashmir.
- April 17: Weather will remain generally dry across the Union Territory.
- April 18-20: A significant weather disturbance is expected. Most areas are likely to experience generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and snow over higher reaches. Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at isolated to scattered places, particularly on April 18 and 19, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds starting from the evening of April 18 through late night on April 20.
- April 21: The weather is expected to stay generally cloudy with light rain or thunder at scattered locations.
- April 22-27: A spell of generally dry weather is predicted, providing some relief from the unsettled conditions.
Advisory:
All concerned are advised to plan accordingly & follow Admin/Traffic advisory.
- Farmers are particularly advised to suspend all agricultural operations from April 18 to 20 due to adverse weather conditions.
- Travelers and residents should stay alert to the possibility of landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas.
- There is also a chance of moderate snowfall over the higher reaches on April 19.
