J&K Weather Update: Light Snow Expected on Dec 31, Heavy Snowfall Predicted from Jan 1-6
Srinagar, Dec 31: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting light snow at isolated higher reaches on December 31.
According to the forecast, two western disturbances (WD) are likely to affect J&K and adjoining areas from January 1 onwards. Here’s a breakdown of the weather forecast:
-Dec 31: Generally cloudy with light snow at isolated higher reaches
-Jan 1-2: Generally cloudy with light snow at scattered places
Jan 3-6: Generally cloudy with light to moderate rain (plains of Jammu) and snow at most places of J&K, with peak activity on Jan 4-6
-Jan 7-10: Generally cloudy with dry weather
Advisory Issued for Tourists and Travellers
In view of the fresh snowfall, sub-freezing temperatures, and icy road conditions, tourists, travellers, and transporters are advised to plan accordingly and follow administrative and traffic advisories.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has also warned of the possibility of heavy snow at isolated higher reaches during January 4-5.
