WEATHER ALERT: J&K TO WITNESS SNOWFALL AND RAIN FROM JANUARY 1
Srinagar, Dec 30: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather update, predicting a dry spell on December 30 and 31, followed by snowfall and rain in Jammu and Kashmir from January 1 onwards.
According to the forecast, two Western Disturbances (WD) are expected to affect J&K and adjoining areas in quick succession. The first WD, expected to be feeble, will bring generally cloudy weather with light snow at scattered places during the evening/night of January 1 to the morning of January 2.
The second WD, predicted to be moderate, will bring generally cloudy weather with light to moderate rain in the plains of Jammu and snow at many places of J&K, with peak activity on January 4 and 5.
COLD WAVE ALERT
The Meteorological Centre has also predicted a cold wave at isolated places during December 30 and 31.
ADVISORY ISSUED FOR TOURISTS, TRAVELLERS, AND TRANSPORTERS
In view of the snowfall, sub-freezing temperatures, and icy conditions over roads, tourists, travellers, and transporters are advised to follow the administration and traffic advisory.
HEAVY SNOW ALERT
There is also a possibility of heavy snow at isolated higher reaches during January 4 and 5.
