Machil receives fresh snowfall, weather improves in Sgr, other parts

Srinagar, Mar 30 (KNO): A few areas including Machil in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district received a fresh snowfall while the weather conditions improved in plains of Kashmir on Saturday.
Two back-to-back Western Disturbances have affected Jammu & Kashmir from March 27, bringing rains in plains and snowfall in Gulmarg, Sonamarg and other few areas till today.
However, the Director Meteorological department (MeT), Dr Mukhar Ahmad according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that the weather conditions are expected to remain partly to generally cloudy with light to moderate rain and snow in higher reaches at most places and heavy rains, snow at isolated places during tonight.
On March 31st, he said that the weather would remain partly to generally cloudy with possibility of intermittent light rain and snow at few places.
From April 01-05, he said that generally dry weather with light rain at isolated places is expected on 3rd April.
On April 6-7, generally cloudy weather is expected with light rain and snow at scattered places. The weather is expected to remain dry from April 08 to April 11, he said.
Moreover, the MeT Advisory advised the farmers to suspend farm operations till 31st March.
There is a possibility of landslides, mudslides and shooting stones during above period, the Advisory reads, adding that thunderstorm, lightning activity with possibility of Hailstorm & Gusty winds during March 30th—(KNO)
