The First Ever 2 Days ‘Sinthan Festival’ concludes at Sinthan Kishtwar; More than 12000 tourism enthusiasts attended the event on the second day

The two days maiden ‘Sinthan Festival’ concluded today at Sinthan Maidan Kishtwar which was jointly organized by the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in close collaboration with District Administration Kishtwar, Indian Army and J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The culmination ceremony was attended by DIG Doda Kishtwar Ramban Dr. Sunil Gupta-IPS, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav-IAS, SSP Kishtwar Sh. Khalil Poswal-KPS, ADDC Kishtwar Sham Lal-JKAS, CEO Kishtwar Development Authority/ADC Sh. Inderjeet Parihar and Deputy Director Tourism (Adventure & Publicity) Jammu Sh. Abdul Jabbar

The two days event witnessed cultural and adventure activities which were enjoyed by the visiting guests and tourists. Much enthusiasm was witnessed for the maiden Paragliding activity, Tug-of-War, snow based activities, musical fiesta of live performances by Waqar Khan, Shubham Shiva, Zahida Tarannum and other local star performers.

The Finale of First ever ‘Kishtwar Idol’ was also held on the occasion and Gandhi Krishan, hailing from Dachhan, and Mamta Shan, from Cherji Nagseni, were crowned as the winners of the senior and junior categories respectively, in the highly-anticipated finale of Kishtwar Idol season 1. The finale event was held as a part of the 2-day Sinthan Festival, which was attended by a large audience.

The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 each and the Kishtwar Idol trophy, which was presented to them amidst great fanfare by dignitaries. The competition was highly competitive, with participants from various parts of Kishtwar showcasing their incredible singing talent. The judges had a tough time selecting the winners, as all the finalists were exceptionally talented.

It is pertinent to mention here that Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar had organized the first ever mega singing competition which provided platform to local talented singers and performers. He also initiated the District level ‘Inter College Dance Competition’ which concluded on 29th April amid loud cheering from the audiences.

The two days festivities were organized for the first time at Sinthan Kishtwar which is also the Gateway to Kashmir valley from Kishtwar District. Many visitors from all over Jammu & Kashmir attended the mega festivities with around 4000 footfall on Day 1 of the event and more than 12000 footfall was registered at Sinthan on the culmination day of the Mega Cultural Bonanza. Locals participated in this mega event in huge numbers and expressed gratitude towards District Administration Kishtwar and Tourism Department, J&K in successfully organizing such mega tourism event at Sinthan Kishtwar. District Administration Kishtwar had made arrangements for direct transportation from Kishtwar town and ensure wide pre-event publicity of the event. Camping facilities, snow based activities were also organized during the festival.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar congratulated his team of officers, Tourism Department and all stakeholders in successfully collaborating for organizing such a mega level event which has created strides across J&K and in the national tourism circuits. He also hoped that more tourism promotional activities shall continue in the ongoing year so that Kishtwar gets recognized for its natural beauty, adventure potential and also for the local talented performers of this region.
